Allen Edmonds Park Avenues Color
Looking to purchase a pair of AE Park Avenues, deciding between "Dark Chili" and "Walnut" to go with a navy suit. Link: https://www.allenedmonds.com/shoes/mens-shoes/oxfords-derbys/park-avenue-cap-toe-oxford/SF270.html?dwvar_SF270_color=5956#prefn1=refinementColor&prefv1=Walnut&start=1
Any thoughts on either color? Is one more appropriate for interviewing/office wear? All advice appreciated.
Yeah. Bad and worse. Funny how a model called Park Avenue can be delivered in a color that screams 'real estate agent in suburban Austin'.
Get the black ones and don't ever buy a walnut colored shoe again.
Get black. If you have black get coffee. If you have that get oxblood
I have black & Dark Chili.
I mostly use the chili, love it. That Walnut is horrible, though. Go with dark colors. Brown/Black.
I'm in S&T so nobody gives a shit either way. Not sure about IB.
How is oxblood perceived in finance?
Makes you a killer -- in trading of course
I feel like oxblood/burgundy goes well with Charcoal and Navy suits but it isn’t that common. Is it too “fashion forward” for the office?
It’s cool if you work at the GQ desk, but I really don’t get why people try to push the limits on what is considered office attire. The standard finance ‘uniform’ is the navy suit, black belt, black shoes and black leather watch strap. Sure, there are other combinations that might look good, but you don’t want to be the nail that sticks out when you are a junior unless it’s performance related.
Navy suits and brown captoe oxfords have been worn in the office for decades. Blue suits with black shoes is less common. I agree with your point of not wanting to stick out for the wrong reasons, but your views seem outdated. People on the street almost never wear suits or even ties now (the whole tech business casual/ fuh-nance bro sleeveless sweater shit) has taken over and probably isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
I'm probably more on the conservative side when it comes to business attire after my stay in London. However, I don't wear a suit for my co-workers, I wear it because a lot of clients expect bankers to look a certain way. The tech business casual works because you deal with other tech companies dressed the same way. If you're meeting with the management of a more conservative industry you don't want to show up under- or poorly dressed, hence my recommendation to ditch the brown shoes and stick with black.
lol
The dark chili/oxblood, black and dark brown are the way to go, not walnut. The former is not “fashion forward”, it is actually classic.
No brown in town!
Note: LDN based
Black. I have a black pair and they work with like everything.
