Anyone use the WHOOP? What do you think?

I currently have an Apple Watch that’s a few years old now, so I’m debating whether to upgrade that this fall when the new one comes out, or get a WHOOP instead. The main reasons I’m considering dropping the Apple Watch are:

  • Whoop kinda takes away the distraction of having a smart watch with notifications
  • Seems like their workout / health / sleep analytics are better than AW
  • can pair it with a better looking analog watch down the road

Thoughts anyone?

I've been using Whoop for 2+ years. Got an Apple Watch this past Christmas but I continue to use both.

Totally agree - love the data aspect of Whoop. The sleep/recovery analytics are far superior to AW. Trained for a 1/2 marathon this past spring and truthfully don't know how I would have done it without Whoop. The recovery score you get every morning (based off heart rate variability/resting heart rate/sleep, etc) provides a daily exertion recommendation which helps me go that extra mile when I can while also toning back/prevent injuries on days I have a low recovery.

Whoop also correctly predicted I had Covid twice before I was even symptomatic.

Full disclosure - I do train 4-6x a week and if I wasn't doing this much I'm not sure Whoop would be worth it to me unless I really wanted to see daily recovery and sleep metrics. The top metrics Whoop measues (HRV/RHR) are primarily cardiovascular metrics as a heads up.

Love the 'team' aspect of Whoop and can for sure create a WSO one if anyone is interested
