Are Solid Colored Ties Inappropriate?
Are ties that are a neutral, solid color appropriate or is it wiser to go for neutral stripes/dots for tie patterns?
What do you guys think?

I think solid is fine but if you go for solid I’d lean towards something with more texture than just solid colored flat shiny silk if that makes sense.
I would think if the tie looks fine / you like it then it would be fine.
I don't think I've seen a single good take from you on any thread.
Would you like me to stop posting?
My first instinct was to cringe but I actually see where you're coming from. I'd say no, don't do solid. It's not inappropriate at all but it just looks a bit unprofessional compared to a dotted or striped tie if we're talking same price range. Again, not really a problem if it's all you have but try and avoid if you can.
As an intern, I only had solid ties but went and bought a couple stripes etc from the clearance box at Marshalls for like five each.
Yeah I dress as conservatively as it gets, but I always felt solid ties have a slight fashion to them sported by senior staff as well. Hence the post. Glad to see I'm not completely crazy haha.
