I am interning this summer as a MBA Summer Associate - should I bring a backpack or messenger bag to the office? I have both a typical North Face and a leather backpack as options but I am thinking the messenger back looks more professional. Any brand recommendations would also be great.

Used to use a Tumi backpack. Recently I got a nice leather Mont Blanc messenger bag as a gift, and it does look a lot more professional. Using a backpack is much more comfortable on the shoulders but messenger bags just look better.
I would honestly have one of each. Messenger for suit/nice days. Backpack for casual days.

Wearing a fleece vest: backpack
Wearing a suit: messenger bag

I have a leather backpack from Briggs and Riley. It looks like they stopped making the leather version but they have this one, which IMO looks fine:

The main advantage is that they have a lifetime warranty, which no competitor offers. I have had mine for ~2 or 3 years and use it when travelling + to and from the office, zero issues. Highly recommend. Their luggage is awesome too. If you search for reviews on reddit you'll see them come out on top almost all the time.
If you want to save money maybe you can find one used on eBay or something. It's not cheap, but you will truly only need to buy once and then have it for 20+ years.
