Bag Recommendation for Work Travel

I'm looking for bag/suitcase recommendations for work trips, specifically bags/suitcases that fit multiple suits. I'm a fairly big guy, so I want to make sure the bag/suitcase is wide/long enough to fit my suits.

Until recently, I've been going on 1 - 2 day work trips and I've been able to get away with packing one suit and a separate small weekend bag. I need something bigger now that I can fit at least two suits into. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some recommendations for bags and suitcases suitable for work travel, especially for carrying multiple suits:

  1. Weekender Duffel Bags:

    • Quality Leather Weekender Duffel Bags: These are functional and stylish. While some users consider high-end brands like Louis Vuitton, there are more affordable options that still offer great quality.
  2. Nylon Tumi Bags:

    • Nylon Tumi Bags: These are highly recommended for their durability and functionality. They are spacious enough to fit multiple suits and other essentials.
  3. Leather Laptop/Messenger Bags:

    • Full-Grain Leather Bags: Traditional full-grain brown leather bags with clean lines are a good choice. They are classic and can fit a laptop along with other items.
  4. Avoid Certain Types:

    • Avoid Large Purses or School Bags: These are generally not suitable for professional settings.
    • Avoid Rolling Suitcase Style Bags: Unless absolutely necessary, as they might not be ideal for carrying suits.

For a big guy, ensure the bag is wide and long enough to accommodate your suits without wrinkling them. Look for bags with compartments specifically designed for suits to keep them in good condition during travel.

As an update, my finalists were the Briggs & Riley Garment Duffle Bag ($369) and the Halfday Premium Garment Duffle Bag ($158).

I ended up splurging on the B&R bag as it has a lifetime warranty and is within standard carry-on size (the Halfday is a little bigger). Hoping that I’ll get a lot of use out of it as work travel begins ramping up and I enter the wedding heavy portion of my life.
