I’m 10 years into my Filson Tan Duck Cloth and Horween Leather Bag. They make an all leather version but the cloth is fucking awesome for my style, i.e. sport coat, open collar button down, and loafers. Bow tie if your considering more than 1 mm managed, or if we are going drinking for our meeting. My girlfriend hates it, it disarms clients enough they don’t notice I’m wearing a 40k Jager Le Couture. It’s like a cloak for all the items that would potentially send them for the hills. I’ll never carry another bag.

Colonel Littleton - it's like their briefcases are made out of butter. Right at the upper end of your budget, but really good quality and ultra durable.
I would suggest taking a look at these: https://www.carlfriedrik.com just got one for Christmas. Really really nice quality. Extremely impressed especially when considering the price.
