Best Value (~$200) Bit Loafers?

Question

Any suggestions for good quality brown bit loafers around $200? I love the Gucci and Ferragamo styles, but I'd like to get a similar look for less. I've ordered and returned a few pairs at this point (Mezlan, Magnanni, Cole Haan) and can't find exactly what I want.

Edit: They also have a NYC store if you're there. I've only had good experience with Meermin, probably the best bang for the buck shoes around, if you also factor in their sleek lasts.

Would I buy Allen Edmonds, Carmina, Crockett & Jones, etc. over them? On sale, sure. but if you need some affordable shoe with classic construction, sleek lasts, and decent materials, give Meermin a try.

They do get better with age. Initially they'll tear the fook out of your heels but you can break them in easily. Make sure to condition and maintain the leather and you're good. The shoes are also good year which is a pretty good bang for your buck. If you can, visit a store in person and try them on.

Do yourself a favor and go with Allen Edmonds. Great quality shoes. +1 to anyone who mentioned Cole Haan loafers, I've had several pairs and for the price they lasted a couple of years. Also +1 to the Allen Edmonds Cavanaugh loafers; these are great and should be considered for the price range. AE sends out coupons every so often, so make sure not to pay full price. Another pro tip for the AE is that the leather will absolutely stretch out, so if they're snug when you buy them they will conform and adjust. I made the mistake of getting a size slightly too big and they are permanently a half size too big so they slip off occasionally. Shame.
