Button Gape | Custom Women’s Dress Shirts

I’ve begun to look for clothes for my internship this summer (snagging sales, etc.), but I just can’t find a good button down shirt. I’ve been caught with the inevitable button gape every time I try something on that fits well in the torso. I also love the button down look, and of course I have other blouses too.

I’ve been considering just going down the custom shirt route to get a good fitted shirt — that actually fits. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place to get a custom women’s shirt at decent quality, either online or somewhere in NYC? Or a brand that caters to this issue? I’m hoping to buy a few for under $75, but I know that’s ambitious.

Thanks!

It's cheaper to buy button-downs that otherwise fit you and have the button gaps sewn shut by a tailor. You'll have to pull the top over your head but it's much cheaper than buying an entirely custom-made shirt.
