Buying individual suit pants (without the matching jacket)?

What are people's thoughts on buying individual suit pants without the jacket for the summer? I've heard that in the summer, people in my office only wear suit pants + dress shirt in the office, and only bring the jacket if there's a meeting or event. I only own brought one suit to NYC, so I'm thinking I go out and buy a couple pairs of individual suit pants so I do not wear the same pair of pants every single day for 10 weeks. And then if I'll leave my jacket in the office, and if I know I have a meeting that day, I'll wear the matching pants in the morning.
