Cost of Prestige

I am hoping to increase the prestige of my wardrobe through buying high end clothing. The only issue is each item at a quality brand (Peter Millar, Drakes, Rhone, etc) is $300 per item. Does a wardrobe overhaul really cost $10k+? I can afford it but I grew up living very cheap and saving money so it feels unusual.

Don't confuse an overhaul of your wardrobe with a requirement to buy nothing but name brands. That's a part of it but more important is how you "structure" your wardrobe and resulting look. So take the time to think about what you want to do and what you want your wardrobe to say about you. And then combine that for classic looks that don't always have to be expensive. For example, I've always said that a white shirt and a Brooks Brothers tie can make anyone looks good. You put that on Quasimodo and he's going to look good. The tie can be quality, the white shirt does not have to be (and Brooks Brothers ties go on sale all the time). Not the look you're going for, thats OK, just pick one and build around that. For me, I gravitate to American men's designers (BB, RL, AE, etc). If I know that's what I'm going after, then I can buy strategically with sales or BOGOs and most stuff from the same designer will easily match with each other.
