therock555anyone here have or had dental braces while they were going through recruiting? i might have to and completely honest, i feel like they may hurt me. Because banking/consulting are such presentable and somewhat superficial cultures, a mouth full of metal wouldnt be so ideal. Any thoughts? thanks.
I don't know if it will help or hurt (it definitely will be noticeable) but my dad's an orthodontist and he says that approx. 70% of his patients do invisalign. Even if you are wearing them you can hardly tell and you can take them out if you want (for dates, interviews, pictures, etc.). I had them and it was great. I would look into it.
Unfortunately invasilgn is not an option. The best I can manage is ceramic braces which are a bit less visible. My teeth are not crooked because I had braces once before. This time one of my inner molars got messed up so it would be more for function than it would be for aesthetics.
Should I get them?

ah dam that sucks. I agree with what the other posters are saying. If you have to get them get them (especially if you need them for functional reasons. The bigger issue is if you feel self conscious or timid because of them. Like the other poster said, just make a joke if you think it's a big deal. Also, I know it may be tough, but focus on preparing for interviews because that will give you confidence and take your mind of this.
Inner molar? Don't know much about dentistry but if you have to get braces just to save a tooth, I would rather just get it pulled, especially if you have to go through recruiting. It's not a huge deal, but it will probably affect your confidence, and you'll be known as "the kid with braces".
I am in the same boat as you. I am getting incognito braces. Check them out. They wont be noticeable at all during recruiting, just might be slurring a few words here and there...
If you don't have a choice, you don't have a choice. If you do, go for invisible or hidden braces.
Honestly, anyone with a heart won't judge you on it, and you'll be fine. Confidence is more important, make a joke about them if you feel people are judging you on it, and you can do it naturally.
I did you can read threads about me even asking exact same questions I did make it though and did get a nice internhip where i'll hopefully be heading back next summer and then ft after that
Ok
1st having braces puts you at an unfair disadvantage this is just the real world
