Ducati monster 696, which is about as nice an entry-level bike as is worth getting, will run you about 10K. Probably a little less if you get a demo model or something. If you want something slightly more powerful/nicer get a Monster 796 (about 12K), a Streetfighter (~17K)

or: BMW F800R, beautiful easy bike and really reliable for ~10K Yamaha FZ8, Cheapest legit streetfigher bike you can get and about 10.5K

Finally, I may be biased but I just bought a Kawasaki Z1000. 1043cc and a 4-stroke i4. So fast and so gorgeous and so much fun to ride. An 13.5Kish http://www.kawasaki.ca/model/STREET-TOURING/1253/Z1000

Thanks, I'm liking the 796. Good price, nice bike

Ninja is made by kawasaki Personally im a fan of honda. I've had good experince with their dirtbikes, I used to own a cr250 and a crf450 Im thinking about getting cbr250r soon. Super economical, something like 70 miles to a gallon I wouldnt get anything over a 500 if you've never rode any type of bike before, you would never really get the true potenital of what it has to offer.

09gradbikes are a great idea. it'll be especially useful in the late fall when it starts to snow.

I know bro! I mean in a city filled with taxis and a huge subway system, who the fuck wouldn't wanna drive their bikes in the snow?
