Do Ties go out of style?

Do ties go out of style? My dad has a ridiculous collection of awesome ties, but a lot of them were probably purchased in the 90's. I don't feel like shelling out cash for new ties when I could just use some of these. However, I also dont want to look like a fool. Thanks.

I would say some ties might be out of style, but in general they are classics. Honestly, you can get some ok ties for 20 bucks a pop. Not too much money to update your style.

For some reason, I think your talking about Rush Limbaugh ties. While Rush's ties are very cool for weddings and social gatherings, they probably standout too much for IBD.

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

Haha well some of them have absurd patterns. But most of them are Borrelli, Bulgari, Chavrey, Hermes, Turnbull, Talbott, etc. I just didn't know if these ties from the 90's would show their age.

CartwrightIf they have piano keys or Tabasco sauce bottles, it's probably time for a change.

Damn, you beat me to it.

Also, sports teams and the like are probably not acceptable.

Ties can definetely go out of style but many can be very classic and still be fashionable for many years.

Pics would be best.

Hermes ties are pretty classic, so are the others. If they are simple patterns or designs you should be fine. Some stuff could be very dated. Take pics if you want more specific opinions.

Definitely buy new ties. Not only do patterns change, but so do shapes. Many ties from the 90's are much wider at the bottom and taper more aggressively than today's narrower ties. Even if the pattern is acceptable the shape of the tie itself could leave you looking like a freakish clown.
