Dress shirts flaring out on the sides/hips
Anybody elses shirts flare out on the sides near the waist giving off a look of love handles? Im a pretty skinny guy but a lot of my shirts do this where I have to push all the excess to the back so the sides appear skinnier, which then in turn looks bad on the back. Wondering if it is the brand or size doing this, or just me wearing it improperly.
You said yourself, you're skinny.
I think CT and others also has an "extra slim" or super slim or something so you can try that if you're not already.
Otherwise, you gotta either eat more or get tailored shirts. Most shirts will be designed for an "average man" (read: slightly chubby) even slim fit ones.
Happens — just go to Thailand and get stuff tailored
Ya its probably just too big. Try some “slim” sizes. Theres also various brands that are designed to be worn “untucked” or tucked, so they’re much more tapered. I’ve liked several of those.
Two things can help other than buying fitted shirts:
Look up how to do a military tuck on YouTube. Instead of making the shirt bunch in the back, it makes two folds of excess shirt that still makes it look sharp.
Use shirt stays. They help keep your shirt taut so that when you do a military tuck and move around/bend over, your shirt won’t pull and untuck itself.
Buy a cheap sewing machine off of amazon for ~$40-50 max and some spare fabric from a hobby store. Learn how to use it by practicing on that fabric. Google/YouTube how to put in 'darts' on dress shirt. You'll never have an ill fitting shirt again.
On top of that you can learn to hem pants or taper them when they are too baggy. You'll learn a good skill and save money that would be spent on a tailor or higher end clothing until you have more disposable income.
Military tuck, and wear a suit so you can stuff all that crap in the back if military tuck isn’t working enough. I’ve started wearing slim fit shirts and that helps for the most part. Slight military tuck is necessary still
