Females - Comfortable Work Shoe Reccomendations?

Hi all,

I am an incoming SA interning in IB and need to buy work shoes. I am wondering what brands you recommend that are affordable and comfortable. Do you wear heels most days or stick to flats? Also, what are your thoughts on wearing sneakers for the commute and then changing shoes when you get to the office? Thanks!

I worked at a bulge last year as an intern and most women had nice tennis shoes and had a pair of heels at the desk and changed as needed. Comfort > style. As a women most men are unaware and don’t care.

I wear sneakers for the commute and change shoes at the office and so do other women in my team, it's totally fine. I have a pair of heels in the office but generally stick to wearing flats unless there's a client meeting (although would note that it would be totally fine to wear flats to the meeting) or for some reason I'm feeling like wearing heels that day.

As for brands, I'm based in London so my recommendations probably won't help. I'd suggest choosing something mid-range in terms of cost, i.e. no need to buy super expensive shoes but the £20 pair from a fast fashion retailer will kill your feet and fall apart in weeks. Make sure you're choosing something comfortable and practical - there's no point having a really nice pair of heels if they cripple your feet and you look stupid trying to walk in them.
