How do you break in shoes

Last week I purchased a $295 pair of very nice Johnston & Murphy dress shoes. They fit me perfect as they slide right on. I wore them for the first time yesterday. There is a little slippage in the heel (very little as they fit pretty nicely), but within 30 minutes, I was unable to walk as my heels both had tremendous blisters. I was contemplating wearing double/triple socks until they are broken in. Any other suggestions?

Buy the correct size or fit next time. Shoes shouldn't injure you, especially if you're already wearing socks.
