Hello WSO Community,
I am currently change into a finance role and need some guidance on building a professional wardrobe that aligns with industry standards. coming from a tech background, base in USA and working with MICRISOFT. My current wardrobe is totally casual and I wan to see that I make a good impression in my new role:)
My Goals is here
I want to invest in quality pieces that are versatile and appropriate for the finance industry. Also want to Gain a clear understanding of what is considered business formal, business casual, and smart casual in finance.
I am willing to invest in key pieces; I did also appreciate advice on budget friendly options and where to shop for quality attire.
My questions is here
- What are the must have items for a professional finance wardrobe? I am thinking suits, shirts, ties & shoes etc but Id love a detailed list.
- How do dress codes vary across different finance roles and settings? For example, what's appropriate for client meetings vs. day to day office wear?
- Which brands offer the best quality for the price? Are there specific stores or online retailers you recommend for professional attire?
- How important is tailoring in the finance world? Should I invest in tailored suits from the get go, or is it okay to start with off the rack options?
- Any tips for dressing professionally during different seasons, especially in a city like NYC with its extreme weather?
If you have any advice and any tips, suggestion please share with me. This will be helpful for me
Best regards
