Interview Attire at Tech Company
Final round finance interview at tech company (think Lyft, AirBnB) in NYC. Interview invite explicitly says they're casual and that formal dress is not required, to wear whatever you're comfortable in.
Should I still go with a navy suit no tie? That's really all I have but can borrow a jacket from a buddy.
Dark jeans and a nice long-sleeve shirt and sports jacket. If you really must...casual slacks. Anything more than that and you'll stick out in a negative way. Definitely don't wear a suit even without a tie.
Peter Thiel, the former CEO of PayPal and the first institutional investor in Facebook, has a rule: Never invest in a CEO who wears a suit. If you show up in suit & tie, tech firms will worry about cultural fit.
