Is Long Hair (waist length and more) unprofessional for women?

I am an incoming analyst in banking and while we won't be in the office for a while I am a bit concerned with hair. For my summer internships I wore my hair either in pony tails or out and I never was told to not do this or any complaints. However, now that I am going to be a full time analyst and meeting clients, I was curious as to whether long hair is considered okay or will people discuss it behind my back. In particular, for those of you with superiors that are women, do most of them have short hair above their shoulders or is it okay to have long hair and wear it out?

Most of the information I have found has been from the early 2010s and not particularly helpful for the current business and social climate so would appreciate some serious answers!

I have waist length hair that I almost never tie up and have never had any issues. However, I do always take the time to straighten or curl my hair so that it looks neat and polished despite being very long.
