Is wearing tan/khaki pants to a formal interview appropriate?

I have an interview this week, and my black dress shoes got a nasty, noticeable scratch. I only have a black suit with me, so I was thinking if wearing khaki pants, brown wingtips, and a black blazer is suitable for "business professional" in a formal interview. I know brown shoes with black pants is faux pas, if I'm not mistaken (please correct me if I am).

I'm a college student far from home without the money to get new shoes, so those are my only options. Thanks!

Khakis are not appropriate for a IB/S&T/etc. interview. On top of that, wearing brown shoes with a black blazer would look ridiculous.

Wear the black suit with the black shoes. Shoe polish should be able to cover up the scratch and they aren't going to be staring at your feet.

I bought polish yesterday and made the shoes look presentable... it's a huuuge scratch though but it's not noticeable anymore. Thanks again

Well you're gonna look like a goofball no matter what combination you choose.

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Totally appropriate...if you're interviewing at Applebee's. Holy shit, kid, you'll be better off wearing your scuffed shoes and the mortician suit.

Good to hear that you got your problem resolved but seriously consider dumping the black suit ASAP. Black suits are for waiters and funerals. If you aren't one or going to the other then dump it and get charcoal, darker shades of grey, dark navy, etc.

You forgot secret agents. They sometimes wear black suits when their tuxedos are bing dry cleaned. Other than that, yeah funerals and waiters.

I stand corrected. And secret agents.
