Online stores with discounted luxury watches?

I'm looking to pick up a watch, but NYC dealers are very stingy with discounts and I'm not accustomed to paying MSRP. Now I'm considering buying it online from 'parallel importing' retailers, their discounts are crazy!. So my question is if anybody had experience with those sites... how reliable are they? It seems legit, with the one major downside of not getting a manufacturers warranty, since they are not authorized dealers. They do however give their own in-house warranty, but I'm not sure if I can trust their mechanics. On a second thought, not entirely sure how important the warranty is if I save a few grand off the listed price The watches I'm looking at are $8-10k, so I don't want to fuck this up. Any input highly appreciated.

Some of the sites I found:

www.gemnation.com www.certifiedwatchstore.com www.thewatchery.com Let me know if you can recommend another one Thanks!

www.gilt.com

They have watch sales every so often, and some of them supposedly MSRP in the close-to-$10k range.

foreveralone, thanks that forum was useful. From some research it seems those places are relatively safe and reliable, the only negative feedback I saw was when you want to return the piece or ask for complex shipping, etc. If somebody else is interested, luxurybazaar.com seemed like one of the better ones based on both prices and track record. DM, when I said discount I didn't mean deals/flash sales. If you buy pretty much anywhere but NYC you can expect ~15-20% off the MSRP, even more in dubai/switzerland/etc.. The problem is in NYC there's a high volume so you have less bargaining power with sales associates, although if I had enough time I'm sure I could find boutiques that negotiate more or go to NJ or something. Besides, Gilt wouldn't have the watches I want, right now it's D&G and I think I saw a bunch of rolexes before. By the way, they will have the same issue with warranty because the manufacturers by policy don't allow authorized dealers to sell online ever, let alone at steep discounts. So Gilt's suppliers are pretty much the same distributors that sell to other random sites.

Either way thanks, it was a long shot but I figured maybe somebody used them before with our 50-page watch threads. I guess I'll just take an envelope of cash and try my luck with greedy Tourneau sharks...

Why do you want something you can't afford?

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

What a stupid comment.

What purpose are you buying the watch for? Just to say you own it? Whats the point?

If you wanna buy used look at TheRealReal. They do consignments and verify authenticity. Could buy a used rolex and pay a couple hundred for a full intensive refurbish.

Chrono24 is actually pretty good. Rule of thumb, never buy a luxury watch brand new; buy a pre-owned one and save some money. Plenty of legit vendor on the site, I had some great experiences buying vintage watches from them.
