Shirt(s) for Interviewing
I'm looking to pick up one, possibly two dress shirts for interviewing. (I don't want to buy a ton of shirts until I actually receive an offer.) What are some cheap options in NYC (less than $100/shirt)?
What I'm particularly looking for:
-TAILORED FIT (this is most important, and it's particularly difficult since I have long arms--if I size down enough to have a shirt fit well in the chest, the sleeves are normally way too short)
-White
-Barrel cuff
-No chest pocket
-Spread (or something similar) collar
banner ad right below your post. WSOEXCLUSIVE code for $25 off $75, and gilt city coupon $60 for $120. You end up paying 60 bucks for 2 made to measure shirts.
The only problem is that I want to be able to try on the shirts before purchasing. Once I get a feel for what works, then I'll have the confidence to order online later.
Charles Tyrwhitt. Their shirts are awesome.
Second on Charles Tyrwhitt, cannot emphasize enough how great they are. I have the same problem as you when it comes to proportions and CT's tailored fit shirts are a godsend. The only drawback is that the tailored fit selection is super narrow relative to their slim and classic fit lines but seeing as you only want white, this won't be a problem. Their only storefronts in the US are in NYC, one of which is in the BarCap building.
Everyone on this site seems to think that Charles Tywhitt is God's gift to man. While their stuff is good, especially for the price, I've definitely owned/seen better shirts. But ya, if you don't want to spend a lot and you don't want to shop at discount stores, Tyrwhitt is a good option
Go to Brooks Brothers. Brooks Extra Slim Fit shirt > any CT tailored fit shirt.
They are $79 normally, 3 for $209, and during the semi-annual every December and June, they are $59 each.

Don't get a Brooks Brothers extra slim shirt if you actually want to be able to button your collar. I would agree that CT is the best shirt for what you're looking for (quality and price). After you get a job though you should definitely go for custom shirts, it's the only way to get a spot on fit without getting alterations. There's a lot of great companies making custom shirts at affordable prices now too like J.Hilburn, Blank Label, Indochino.
You must have a thick neck b.
