CapocriminiNever wear brown in town. All you need to know.

You can wear brown with pretty much anything except black suits. Just avoid square toes, keep it conservative. Cap toe shoes are always a good bet.

Footwear in IB can be a great conversation starter and way to ingratiate yourself/relate to the senior bankers.

Here are some responses for when your jelly coworkers ask about your creative footwear:

flip flops in summer - "Sorry, I just got back from the Nantucket and didnt have time to change into my loafers"

golf shoes - "sorry, just got back from playing Wee Burn and didnt have time to change out of my golf shoes"

squash shoes - "Sorry, just got back from playing squash at the Harvard club and didnt have time to change out of my squash soes"

sailing booties - "sorry, just got back from sailing out at Larchmont, didnt have time to change!"

ski boots (winter only) - "Sorry, I just got back from my condo in Okemo and didnt have time to change out of my ski boots."

etc

Be creative! Remember, ABNASO - always be networking and showing off!

only pair necessary

Actually for summer you could pull the "I just got back from Zermatt and apparently someone dropped my bag when they were loading it into the G6. Someone will pay. For now I will wear ski boots."

turtlesOr you can play it safe and get a nice pair of cap toes
Basically this. Keep it simple, keep them shiny, this is like 0.5% of the equation. When I see pointy shoes or muave loafers with buckles, I can't help but want to laugh at that corny crap.

leveredarbjust no square toes.

Unless you work in ops, those guys seem to like it.

HAH! With the racing stripe stitches that scream, "Please, PLEASE, NEVER PUT ME IN FRONT OF A CLIENT!!!!!"

depends on your office, if you see other people having some brown ones you could get some as well, slightly risky.

If your getting bored of the one pair of black captoes get some open, some closed oxfords, maybe introduce a wingtip into your collection. Monk strap maybe an option if your office is more adventourus.
