Sportcoat for summer?
Quick question:
Any recommendations for summer-weight or spring/summer-weight sport coats for an SA to have? I'm not required to wear a suit, but I was told to wear a tie and shirt, so a sport coat, I suppose, would be essential.
I was thinking of getting BB suiting essentials separates, but if I need several, would, say, Theory or something from Lord and Taylor be acceptable?
Piatelli makes nice sport coats.
no. shirt and tie means shirt and tie, the sports coat dresses it down. plus its summer, why would you wear that on a subway. if you must wear a jacket and the office is business casual, then you skip the tie.
BB, L&T is fine for suits. save the theory blazer for going out.
Ok. I have a BB suit that I like a lot.
Why would a sport coat be dressed down? I mean, I'd just keep it at the office, I guess, I'm unsure.
Sport coat? What is this, Prep school? Are you going to a the Maidstone?
I challenge you to come up with a better term. Sportscoat, sports jacket, and for a particular sort, blazer, are the only ways I can describe this category.
blazer, sport coat, sports jacket, they all mean the same thing. Just don't get anything with brass buttons. It's hot as fuck in new york during the summer so if you aren't required to wear a jacket of any kind, don't. A sport coat is dressing down for the office because it really isn't business attire. That's the point Milty was trying to make above. Just wear a shirt and a tie and you'll be golden.
