Tiffany & Co watch

Would a Tiffany & Co watch be a douchebag move? My long term girlfriend wants to buy me one and her friend asked me if I would want one so I wanted to ask people in the industry i want to work in

I agree that better watches are out there but she seems pretty set on it for some reason. Not sure why but what do you think would be a good watch in same price point that an entry-level/intern could have and not get laughed out of the room?

Well start by considering that 80% of people won't care at all. For the 20% that do, nice watches that don't seem douchy for your positions are:

  • Stainless steel rolex date just (oyster or jubilee bracelet). New or 2nd hand.

  • Omegas in steel (speedmaster, seamaster...the list goes on).

  • Omega De Ville in steel. Very classy and well below $7K

  • Most Tudors. The black bay collection has nice pieces and if you want to avoid submariner look a like, go for the Black Bay 36mm (blue or black dial)

  • Seiko has great watches for their price. Most common ones can be found for under $1000 but if you want to bump up the spending their Credor and Grand Seiko collections are nice.

  • Steel Zeniths on a leather strap are also beautiful.

  • Jaeger's Master collection also has some great 2nd hand pieces around the $7K mark.

  • Blancpain is a big boy brand but some older vintage models from the Villeret collection can be found for about $7K

  • Last resort are some 'younger' guy brand with less expensive pieces that are still great such as Longines or Baume et Mercier.

Happy hunting!
