When is it appropriate to wear Tassel Loafers and Monk Strap shoes --- occasion, clothes, etc.?
Hi Everyone,
I have never bought Tassels or Monks.
When is it appropriate to wear Tassel Loafers and Monk Strap shoes --- occasion, clothes, etc.?
Thanks.
I find Tassel shoes very "hooray henry", and slightly effeminate. A few of my mates wear them, but it goes with their red or light blue pants over the week end, or on "la croisette" in the South of France... I've seen them on clients on the buy side a couple of times, but quite rare. I started wearing Monk Strap shoes as a VP to work; but if I am to interview I go back to more "standard" shoes not to make any particular faux-pas. I fucking love my monk strap shoes - with a crisp solid navy suit and a white shirt it's A fucking perfect.
Thanks D.
While checking for my size in monk strap, is there anything specific that I should look out for or is it the same as buying oxfords?
Same as buying oxfords really, start with a single strap. It's easier to pull off and more classic. After a year or so if you really like the style you can venture into two straps. Don't get gold buckles on it though... Unless you have a gold buckle on your belt - if this is the case try not to wear it at work... Silver is nice and subtle and goes with everything.
