Which Blackberry?

I currently have a Blackberry Curve (8530, it's almost a year old). I have accepted an offer and am starting in February, and they give you your choice of Blackberry, and i dont know much about the different types, so:

What's the best one? Torch? Bold? Tour?

What are the differences between Torch/Bold/Tour etc?

Depends on the carrier.

I personally think the Bold 97xx Series is the current top-of-the-line but it also comes down to personal preference. Some like a touchscreen (Storm2), some prefer traditional candy bar with full qwerty keyboard (Bold), and some like both (Torch). Most if not all are being released with their latest OS 6.0 too which has a few new bells and whistles but isn't anything extraordinary.

Just shop around at your local carrier stores and mess around with them a bit (and check out Crackberry.com for reviews and info) before you make your ultimate decision.

EDIT: Tour is no longer viable option given VZW has the Bold 9650, and that too is being phased out.

The answer comes down to a few questions.

1) What are your choices for carrier? 2) Will you be traveling outside of the country for work? 3) Style Preference?

To the first question, you are limited by carrier selection. To the second question, if you are traveling outside the US regularly for business, I would get a "Global" edition phone... like the Tour or Bold that has GSM capabilities and multi-band coverage built in. If you are traveling regularly, this pretty much limits you to one model per carrier. Otherwise, you have pick of the litter. To the third question, if the answer to question two is anyone from 0, zilch, nada to 2-3 weeks a year, absolute tops, then it's whatever style you like the best.

That said, I have a Tour and I love it. Then again, VZ has moved onto the Bold, so go figure.

I haven't played around with the torch, and RIMM probably needs to fix out the bugs with the new BB 6 operating system, but I do have a bold...ranking would be

  1. Bold
  2. Torch
  3. Tour.

Tour is really old and slow. The processor in the Tour is MILES behind the processor in the Bold and Torch. I had a Curve 8900 before, which is similar to the Tour and it does not even begin to compare with the Bold. You would not even want to consider this as an option.

torch is so so the problem is the lag (have to turn off phone every 12 hours), you get insane hour usage with out charging though touch screen makes navigating easier
