ALM vs Fund Manager Research Exit Opps

I want to go into trading but also have an interest in credit research specifically, with the goal to break into the buy-side. Ideally a HF

Which area is the better option?

I know that with ALM I can move into ALM section at a bank then move into trading (spoke with someone who's done it, although very rare). With the Fund Manager Research, I can move straight into research on the buy-side.

Note. these offers are not from a bank or financial institution.

Im stuck in a situation where I am currently networking but in the meantime, I have to choose between these two possible offers?

I know that it is unlikely for the scenario where I get into trading, but I would much very like the possibility of working in credit research at a HF.
