Becoming a PE fund advisor
Asking on behalf of a parent who asked me to dig into this. Parent is a CEO/President/CFO/COO at a Fortune "big" company (keeping it vague).
I have described to my parent the various "industry advisors" that PE firms have (these people usually (1) coinvest, (2) serve on portco boards, (3) advise firm thesis creation, (4) make connections / introductions; in general, old industry advisors that hang around the hoop and get paid to put their knowledge and network to work for the PE firm.
My parent has expressed interest in doing this post retirement. My question: How do these people get involved with the PE firms with which they are involved?
