CFA vs. Lateral?

I am about 6 months into my analyst stint at a MM IB in an industry group in NYC. I'm starting to think about next steps and want to try to make the jump to a HF. I am mulling over how to best position myself to get interviews and ideally receive an offer. I am deciding between taking the CFA I verse trying to lateral to a BB or EB. To me, its differentiating between brand verse initiative and preparation.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated on which one is best.
