Comp Question: 1st Year Equity Research at 5-10B HF
I've been with the firm as a mid-office analyst (for 3 years as my 1st and only job) and recently joined the investment team. I have a finance master degree from a non-target school and is a CFA3 candidate. My location is at the NYC. What salary and bonus can I expect in a "typical" year?
What were you making as a mid-office analyst?
85+35
I would expect a 10-15k bump in base. Bonus of 50k to low 100s depending on fund performance.
I know the variation in comp could be huge when first joining an new HF depends on experience. But what would be a "typical" comp for someone who had 3-5 year of either BS or SS equity research experience and joining a new BS firm? I don't mind to be "underpaid" for the first 2 year, but I want to catch up very soon.
Unanswerable question. There is no "typical" compensation in the hedge fund world. Base usually low to mid 100s. Bonus can wildly vary. That's all the info there really is.
Thanks! That's good to know as well.
Typical comp for 1 yr at big HF is $125 - 150 base with target bonus 100% of base
