Will vary significantly depending on team, performance, etc. (MD in a operational role different than investment, different than tech, etc). I believe (but haven’t seen specific numbers for DE Shaw) that UK tends to underpay vs USA, that is definitely true at the more junior levels. 

As for comp, I’ve seen anywhere from ~$1.5-3mm mostly guaranteed (DE or similar shops) and cash (with some deferred) and then there is usually an equity or equity like component. So cash (base, bonus), deferred (usually part of the bonus), and equity like. 

Edit: the number above is excluding the equity which is usually where the big differences come in. 

 

Do MDs and portfolio managers tend to get equity even at such large firms? Also is the value from the equity mainly from dividends as the stock probably isnt that liquid.
