Decks/memos

How often do you or your team work on memos for new/ongoing investments? Have heard of initial memos of 100+ pages and on the other extreme no memos because it is just walking through models and inputs. Would imagine the former more common for SMs and latter for MM but curious what people styles are and the value of having a memo to memorialize initial thinking on investments
