You're in a great seat. Some of the best value by activists is identified and captured in situations that appear distressed but actually aren't. Being in a distressed/credit desk is some of the best training you can get. Keep your head down, get your fundamentals cold, and start networking with junior folks at activist shops. Seats don't come along often so you will need to be in the circle for years before the right opp comes along. Best of luck.
