Do you think trading with prop firms could be an alternative way to break into HF?
Rather than following the classic path : 2 years IB > 2 years PE > HF
Do you think someone that knows how to trade consistently and manage several accounts of propfirms (+1M$ in total) would be able to break into HF?
there is tons of propfirms flourishing recently : FTMO, the 5ers, etc
so im wondering what is your opinion?
You will limit yourself to HFs that value that skill set as your fundamental skills are probably zilch
Depends on the shop. You'd be ruling yourself out of L/S, merger arb, etc, but you'd be a better fit for macro funds.
