Experienced buyside professionals - how do you report performance of stock picks on your resume?
Our firm doesn't have a good way of tracking performance of individual stock picks. Do you record performance when the stock is pitched or when it's added to the portfolio? How about on existing coverage performance? What about when you inherit names from other analysts? Not exactly sure what the best method is and if you're working for a strategy that has underperformed since you joined (e.g. growth strategies), do you report your stock picks against overall portfolio performance? Lots to think through but want to make sure i'm not dinged on bad stock picks or negative alpha...
