GMAT - Currently 1st year analyst at a bank

I'm currently a 1st year analyst at a bank and want to work at a HF. Is it worth me taking the GMAT to put a (hopefully) good score on the ol' resume? Otherwise I'll just put it off until I want to apply for b-school...

Thanks for the input.

And that's why you sir give first year analysts a bad name. Tell me this, who put's their gmat score on their flippin resume? If I'm looking to hire you, wouldnt that say, "this guy won't be around long, he's headed to grad school with his great GMAT score", or "this pompous son of a bitch, I didnt even score that high!" (although most of us are somewhat arrogant, we do TRY to exhibit a charitable impression)

Bottom Line, get some humility. fuckface. If I were a hiring manager, I'd personally call you in for an interview just to embarass you...Let your experience, education and creative tenacity speak for itself...

In my experience, Vad is completely wrong on this matter. Almost every resume I've ever seen has a gmat score on it. It is incredibly unlikely it would hurt you to put it on (other than perhaps if you had a low score). On the other hand, if you post some huge GMAT numbers (think 750+), it can be a huge help.

Also, if lots of people have it on their resume, its easy to see how people doing hiring (something I have personally done in CD) gravitate towards easily quantifiable factors to compare applicants. It's hard to quantify various kinds of experience and GPAs aren't comparable across schools. However, it's pretty obivous and straightforward that a 770 GMAT score is better than a 700.

What Ibank analyst with less than two years of experience have you ever seen post a single gmat score on their resume?

Let me answer that...none. Truth be told colinwh16 said it best when he asked if an analyst actually had time to study for the GMAT. DID ANYBODY QUESTION HOW THAT'S EVEN POSSIBLE??? What IBank do you work for? It can be a BB b/c you would know that...

And just to throw salt in your face, I did the Ibank thing for a little over a year and now I work HALF the hours (I can legitimately study for the GMAT; but I just took the LSAT) with about 85% of the pay you G-damn pillow biter...walk it out...

Well, well, well...aren't we the overachiever!

And ExGSBanker get your head out of Walter's ass and stop co-signing. He's supposed to eventually evolve into a narcissitic, self conscious I-banker...you're accelerating the process absent of the lessons he should be learning prior...
