Hedge Fund Dress Code
Starting at a pod at a MM LS hedge fund soon - think P72, Citadel, BAM, etc.
Have no idea what the dress code is. Should I just show up on the first day in a full suit?

Bump interested as well. Also wondering if dress code is different across different regions (NY/SF/London/etc.).
My advice is: when in doubt, show up in full suit and tie. It's better to be overdressed than to be underdressed. Then on your second day you can readjust based on how your colleagues are dressed.
You definitely do not need to wear a suit and tie to a MM and I would recommend against it. I would personally go with a button down and slacks and dress shoes. You will see plenty of people in polo shirts but this way you'll be in the dressier half still.
Wear a button up and dress pants on the first day and then you’ll get a sense. From my experience this varies quite a lot, even on an office by office basis within the same hedge fund. Just go with something relatively safe on the first day and you’ll get a sense.
For the HF im interning for this summer its very much smart casual: polo + khakis is the usual. Also, im sure you can send an email to an HR contact and they can give you some direction, thats what I did before I started.
You’ve made it! Flip flops, shirts and ripped tank top all the way.
if you’re joining P72, make sure to double finger gun and wink to Stevie on the way to your desk, he loves it!
joke post but lowkey he kinda does
I’d show up in a suit, no tie though. Won’t look like a fool if you’re overdressed and isn’t so severe if you’re slightly underdressed
