Hedge Fund Interview

Hi everyone,

For some context, I've just finished the first of a three-year university course and have been looking to gain some experience in an investment management firm.

After sending out cold emails, a small hedge fund got back to me and invited me for an "informal chat"  next week. I'm looking to make a good impression, however, from the sound of the email, it'll more likely be a catch-up and discussion rather than an interview.

Is there anything in particular that I should prepare for? Any motivational questions or technicals that I should know before the meeting? I've got a bit of experience managing my own investments which I can speak about, was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

what kind of funds are they? strategies they employ? what position are you aiming for?

Apologies, I should've been more specific. It's a small fundamental research driven hedge fund specialising in credit. That's just about all I could find online, although I think it generally focuses on event driven strategies.

Not aiming for any position in specific. If they take me on for work experience it'll be rotating between trading and research so am looking to show an interest in both. At this point, I'm just meeting the team to see if I'd be a good cultural fit so the main aim is to demonstrate an interest in the industry as a whole and my suitability for an internship in the future. Any recommendations for how to prepare would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for the help.
