At your level the comp will be similar to what you would make in banking. I would expect a base in the £60k range with bonus of around 50-100% of base, so all in comp of between £90k-120k. You have zero leverage in negotiating comp, and to be frank, to be so short sighted as to focus on 1st year comp would be a major red flag to me as your employer. HF seats at established funds are not that easy to come by in London so your focus should be on doing well and the money will follow. Longer term (say 5-7 years) you will probably max out at a base of £120-150k with the real upside being bonuses which can be multiples of base in a good year.
