HF global macro rotational programme

Curious to hear what the forum thinks of rotational programmes in the hedge fund space

Quite a few funds advertise them ranging from MMs (e.g. BAM, MLP) in specific pods all the way to global macro funds like Capula or Brevan Howard

It appears that it will entail rotations around risk, PM desks, strategy etc...

Is this a good way to start your career. What do people usually do after that? (integrate a PM desk based on ability and interest?)

Happy to hear all opinions.

BTW, and a side question, how much flexibility is there on strategy. By this I mean, let's say your start in an RV pod for two years. can you easily move to macro investing or to equity L/S etc... i have two offers from leading hedge funds but a bit concerned about pigeon holing myself.
