How do you take notes while researching?

I’m still in college, but I was wondering how hedge fund analysts kept notes on investment ideas, I understand the frameworks for researching an investment, but how do you keep track of your research and take notes. What software do you use (Word, OneNote, etc) and anything else that you think would be relevant.
