How long for an offer after final stage

I have my final stage with a MMHF (C/M/P72) next week, how long do they normally take in giving an offer afterwards? For IB it was always the day after, but is there a reason to expect it to be longer for HFs?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, hedge funds, especially MM HFs like Citadel, Millennium, or Point72, can vary in their timelines for extending offers after the final stage. While investment banking often provides offers the day after, hedge funds may take longer due to their more selective and nuanced decision-making process.

For MM HFs, it’s not uncommon for the process to take a few days to a week. Factors like internal discussions, approvals, or even waiting for other candidates to complete their interviews can contribute to the delay. However, if they are particularly interested in you, they might expedite the process.

If you don’t hear back within a week, it’s reasonable to follow up politely.

Can take a while. PM can end up taking a while to get back to BizDev about it, sometimes need to be pestered

Business development, it’s the role inside hfs responsible for recruiting talent and partially for upward mobility inside the firm

Have same issue but it's for a SMHF.

Was told at end of Nov I'm one of the 2 candidate in the game, and had been in touch with them late Dec (nothing major, just updating travel plan and say looking forward to catchup when back from travel), got warm reply, then no news on actual next steps since then

Is there anything I can do? Don't want to appear desperate because the truth is I'm shopping around other shops too (esp more seats would open in Jan?) but also want to show interest.

I heard SMHF usually takes long to make decisions? But how long usually? Any advice here?
