How many years before managing a book in a L/S?

  • How many years did you spend before managing a book?
  • What roles you covered before that?
  • What would be a fair amount of years of exp in order to get real responsibilities in a SM?

Just trying to figure out what's the median out there.

For those who opened their own fund, at what age (YOE) did you get there? How much capital you managed at launch and how big the team?

Rare that you see people get a book in less than 3 years, I'd say. That seems to be the minimum at places like P72/Viking/etc. Even then you're probably only running a small slug of capital.

Most folks who have started funds have been 28+.
