How to think about PE vs HF after IB?
AN1 here in IB with OCR presumably coming soon. More interested in public > private investing / dealmaking. Think it's more intellectually stimulating.
Are HF seats available to IB analysts at BB/EB banks, or is PE a prerequisite at most of these places? Honestly, have fixated on PE recruiting predominantly but realizing now that it probably isn't my first choice; looking to transition my focus toward HF roles instead, albeit a little late.
Pods are always hiring. You should be able to get junior analyst type roles with 1-2 years of IB.
Larger funds will have infrastructure and systems to help train you. Smaller funds probably won’t. Focus on larger platforms.
If you think you're going to kill it and like markets go for HF
