HR interview after final round for HF - is this normal?
Hey guys, would love your take on my current situation.
I recently had a “final” round with senior PMs at a hedge fund. A couple days later, they emailed me saying they want to schedule one last interview with a senior-level HR person.
Question: is this a normal part of the process? Do you guys think it’s because they saw a red flag in one of my interviews? Is it still possible to get cut by HR after clearing the technical rounds with the investment teams?

I think as long as you have already done a case etc. and the investment team likes you, it could just be to confirm some info before giving you an offer. But never say never.. I have been cut after a "fit check" round after the final case study before but it sounds unlikely
What made them think you weren’t a good fit?
Not sure tbh.. I was asked very generic questions. But it was a small team (10 people) so I assumed they wanted a very specific fit. What type of a fund did you interview at?
While it is weird (as they usually have this at the start) this has happened to me twice during the interview process. The first time was to finalize the package, and learn more about your non-compete/sit out period, so it is more reflective of a standard HR call (Q for you - did you have an HR round at the start?) The second time that happened, I got cut...it was legit a shrink interview and was very bad...like a Wendy Rhoades type of person...
Yes, I had an HR interview in the beginning. I’m worried that it’ll be a Wendy Rhoades type of interview…what went badly in yours? What types of questions did you get asked?

Not a red flag. If they weren’t seriously considering you, they would have rejected or ghosted you. Bit weird for last step to be HR since HR usually has the least say (if any). But whatever - just run with it.
