Ib->hf without pe
Is this possible/likely? How much harder is it to just do 2 yrs or more of ib and then go directly to a sm hf?

Of course it’s possible, anything is, but not exactly likely. Think of it from the hedge fund’s perspective.
As an IB Analyst, you’ve proven that you can work at a high level for an extreme amount of time. And that you can make killer pptx’s. Probably models as well.
But you don’t have any investing experience. That’s what the PE acts as — a bridge between full IBD to full investing.
And from your perspective, why join a hedge fund straight out of IB? You have no investing experience and don’t know if you’ll enjoy it. This matters for hedge funds because you can’t coast like in your IB analyst class. You’ll just get fired.
If you do start in IB and then want to go HF, is it worth going lateral to ER for a few years and then trying for a HF?
Easier to MM but possible regardless, certainly harder
Typically no difference in comp/treatment of a 2+2 vs an IBD analyst, no?
