If you had 2 years to prep for a L/S HF position? What curriculum would you put yourself through?

Thinking about making the switch to the HF side in the future but feel largely unprepared for it now. For those that have made the jump, how would you recommend preparing for the interviews? I’ve tried one process and didn’t make it through talking to the business development rep. So giving myself some time before I try again. What sources would you suggest I use?

Pick a group of stocks, model them out, follow them quarter to quarter and get a sense of what’s driving stock prices etc and start forming a view for each quarter.

No learning like doing

Don't use a screen, that's not the right way to think about stocks if you're trying to push for pod. You're a sector specialist covering the same 50 names.

Pick a name you like and just track them and their comps. Get specific too,  something like luxury, beverages, etc, rather than "consumer".

This will seem daunting at first, but I know students and interns that do this well enough to get jobs, so you can definitely do it too. Good luck.
