Info on Segantii Capital? What the hell happened?

I read up on the latest FT article on them and how their block trade business is there 'bread and butter."  Culture is known to be tough internally and externally to the banks.  When they say block trade business, obviously banks make money on the fees but how does Segantii make money?  Are they negotiating the discount, buying the shares, then selling on the open market?  

Sorry if I'm just being an idiot right now.
