I've seen this. This is why I always say there is a difference between smart people who work hard and hard working people. It takes more than your average ivy league student/intelligence to be able to come up with a convertible bondtrading strategy and the idea of getting real time stock quotes via a satellite in 1986. You can make alot of money in finance by being average, which isn't a bad thing. But people like Ken Griffin...you either have it or you don't.
It also helps that he was able to raise 300k as a college freshman from family and friends. The most I'd be able to get is like $20.
